Given that these numbers have likely increased significantly since March 2012 (because an increasing number of people are relying on their mobile devices to navigate in and communicate with the world), it’s no surprise that having a mobile presence is of paramount importance to law firms who want to stay competitive and continue to grow their practice.
Mobile Apps versus Mobile Websites for a Law Firm
When it comes to having a mobile presence, the first and usually most important question that arises is whether a law firm should invest in a mobile website versus a mobile app. While the best choice for a law firm will depend on various factors (including firm’s goals and expectations), here are some general tips for when it’s NOT a good idea for a law firm to invest in a mobile app and when the firm should, instead, focus on building a mobile website for its practice:
- The app will not do anything but will just be a version of a “Contact Us” page: Users will only download and use an app if it can help them solve a problem or do something that they could not do more easily by searching the Internet. If the proposed app for a law firm is nothing more than a Contact Us page, then very few people will likely download and use it – especially if there is a cost to do so – when they could just as simply visit a website for your contact info (or when they could seek out a competitor for free).
