Social media networks, like Facebook and Twitter, have become a prominent aspect of effective marketing to potential new clients, as many people will visit a business’ social media page to get a better feel for the company and decide whether to purchase what that company has to offer. With social media networks here to stay, it’s crucial that law firms looking to improve their legal marketing not only start social media accounts for their firms but also understand how to effective engage new clients through these accounts so they can grow their legal practice.

The following are some tips on how to make your law firm’s social network accounts as effective and engaging as possible:

  • Develop a distinct presence for your law firm – Before you can start reaching out to potential new clients, you will need to set up your firm’s page so that it is both SEO-friendly and it describes your firm in a compelling way. While this should include a brief description (1 to 2 short paragraphs) describing what your firm does and how potential clients will benefit from working with you, it can also include pictures and videos that will provide a more comprehensive, engaging narrative explaining your firm. In some cases, it’s a good idea to add videos of client testimonials, as these can be particularly persuasive to potential new clients.
  • Start attracting followers – Once your law firm’s page is set up, the next step will be to focus on accumulating followers who regularly read your posts and/or visit your page. You can start attracting followers by reaching out to employees, colleagues, former clients and organizations to which you belong. Additionally, by adding a “follow us” button on your law firm’s official website and announcing your new social network page in a company newsletter, you can attract more potential followers.
