Continuing from Mobile Marketing for Law Firms – What to Consider (Part 1), here is some additional information to consider when it comes to online legal marketing.

Mobile App versus Mobile Website for Your Law Firm

The first consideration that will come up when developing a mobile presence for your law firm will be whether to develop a mobile app or to develop a mobile website. While it is ideal to develop both if budget considerations are not an issue, many firms will want to choose either an app or a mobile website (possibly as a first step), and the best choice for a firm will depend on what the firm’s ultimate goal is for having this mobile presence.

Here are some key questions to ask when trying to figure out what the better choice is for online legal marketing purposes:

  • Does the law firm want to reach out to potential new clients? If so, then a mobile website will likely be the better choice. This is because new clients will gravitate towards Internet searches when researching potential law firms and lawyers, and they will be far less likely to download an app for a law firm if they are only in the research phase of their search for a lawyer. As a result, having an optimized, easy-to-use mobile website will be the best way for your law firm to reach out to new clients who are searching for lawyers on their mobile devices.
  • Does the law firm want to stay connected to current clients? If so, then a mobile app may be the better choice. Existing clients are far more likely to download a law firm’s app, and mobile apps may be able to help clients stay connected with their case (by, for example, being able to access calendars, documents and other information that can keep them up to date on the status of their case).
